Call our toll-free number at (800) 221-2367 or send us a written report. Individuals wishing to report a suspicious incident may identify themselves, or remain anonymous. Blue Shield of California (Blue Shield) has become aware of a scheme that is being perpetrated against our members. Members are receiving calls from individuals representing themselves as Blue Shield employees. The callers are asking for personal information, including members' social security and credit card numbers. Although the telephone number displayed on the member's caller ID may appear to a Blue Shield number, be advised that these calls are not coming from our offices. Blue Shield does not ask members to provide this type of personal information over the phone. To protect yourself from becoming a victim, be suspicious of unsolicited phone calls, visits or emails from individuals requesting your personal information, and do not respond to these requests. If you believe that you have been the victim of this type of scam we ask that you report it by sending an email to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association at acafraud@BCBSA.com.
